Design Notes
The kitchen sink is probably one of the most important elements in the kitchen, since it’s where we wash dishes, rinse food, and wash our hands. There are so many options, such as stainless steel, porcelain, and ceramic. Then, of course, there are multiple styles and sizes. At Greenbrook, we are always looking for new items that will meet a need for our clients, and sinks definitely are one of them, which is why we are an authorized dealer for the Karran Sinks.
What Is A Karran Sink?
Based in the USA, Karran is one of the leading manufacturers of sinks and faucets for the kitchen and bathroom. Their goal is to create a sink that is not only durable but also suitable for any design or layout. They are one of the first companies to manufacture acrylic sinks, ones that can be seamlessly undermounted to solid surfaces.
What Are The Benefits?
These sinks are built to last and backed by a company that cares about quality. Another interesting feature of the Karran sinks is the sound-deadening padding located underneath and on all four sides of their stainless steel bowl. This means that when something drops, it doesn’t ring in your ear like the typical stainless steel sink.
Their sink line is also heat resistant up to 530 degrees F, meaning that Karran sinks won’t crack under pressure. Plus, they are easy to clean, which is a huge advantage on its own since no one likes scrubbing the kitchen sink.
What Are Your Options?
They offer four different material choices:
- Stainless steel: This is a great option for a more modern design or for multiple uses. They also offer a workstation in this material.
- Acrylic: These sinks, when taken care of, have a beautiful shine and are durable.
- Quartz composite: This is a mix of quartz and acrylic, making it less likely to crack.
- Vitreous china: This option is only available for their bathroom line and is a ceramic sink that has an enamel coating.
These materials come in multiple styles that will reflect your unique design. You can browse their full line here.
While cabinets tend to be the focal point of the main spaces, such as kitchens and bathrooms, it is the details that add the final touch to the design. The selection process can be one of the highlights of the design phase, but it can also be overwhelming with multiple styles, colors, and options. In this three-part series, we want to give our best tips for the top three categories of selections and help make this as enjoyable and simple as possible. Our focus today is hardware.
In our final part of the selection tips series, we want to focus our attention on lighting. Good lighting can make a difference in the room; no one enjoys struggling to see around the shadows cast by insufficient light or the glare of one placed too low. Here’s what should be on your list of things to look for when selecting your lighting.
