Design Notes
Many of our clients come to us from an hour or more away, often from the greater Charlotte metro area. A common question we hear is, “Why make the drive to Shelby when there are design centers closer to home?” It’s a fair question—and one we completely understand. That’s why we’d like to share a few key reasons why we believe the experience, service, and value you’ll find at Greenbrook Design make the trip well worth it.
The Drive Time Is Not That Much Different
If you’ve ever navigated traffic in Charlotte—or any major city—you know how frustrating it can be to crawl along at a near standstill, just to travel a short distance. That’s why making the trip to Shelby may actually save you time and stress in the long run. Here are a few key points to consider:
-
Timewise, it’s comparable to other common destinations.
Driving to Shelby takes about the same amount of time as heading to the Lake Norman area—but with one major advantage: you’re actually moving most of the way, instead of sitting still on I-77. -
Timing is everything.
If you plan your visit between the morning and evening rush hours, it’s less than an hour from central Charlotte areas like Myers Park. A smooth, scenic drive beats city gridlock any day. -
We make your time count.
Our design process is built for efficiency. At Greenbrook Design, we offer live design sessions and have a full range of products available right in our showroom. This means you can accomplish more in a single visit—eliminating the need for multiple appointments and avoiding drawn-out timelines that can happen with showrooms lacking real-time design capabilities.
Many of our clients will tell us that they enjoyed the drive to Shelby because it was a nice break from the hustle and bustle of the big city. Plus, we have some of the world’s best BBQ at Red Bridges Barbecue Lodge, or maybe you prefer their rival Alston Bridges BBQ, .Yes, it is a local ‘battle of the BBQ.’ You can always find hidden treasures in a small town, so be sure to plan your trip with plenty of time to explore Uptown Shelby. Or maybe plan to stay the weekend, we promise you will have a great experience. Read here to learn more.
We Offer A Unique Customer Service
At Greenbrook Design, our work goes far beyond simply selling cabinetry or completing a renovation—it’s about building lasting relationships with our clients. This relationship-first philosophy has been at the heart of our business since the beginning and continues to shape every design we create.
Each client we serve brings a unique set of needs, preferences, and goals to the table. That’s why our top priority is taking the time to understand who they are and how they live truly. No two clients are the same, and we believe their homes shouldn’t be either. We aim to craft designs that reflect individual lifestyles, personalities, and aesthetics—blending styles to create something that feels personal and cohesive.
What sets us apart is not just our personalized approach, but the experience and product knowledge we bring to each project. With years of expertise in home renovation and a deep understanding of what works—and what doesn’t—we help clients strike the right balance between function, beauty, and budget. The result is a space that feels thoughtfully designed, ideally suited to their everyday lives.
You moved into a house that allows you to have an extra bedroom, or maybe the kids have finally left, and you have a spare room, but now what? We would all agree that it is nice to have a spare bedroom, but should it be a guest bedroom, craft room, home gym, or something else entirely? Extra space is a good thing, but if it goes to waste, it has no value. Take the time to evaluate what you need and what could benefit you the most. A good plan yields excellent results and a space that will benefit you now and add value to your home later. Let’s explore some ideas to help get your creative juices flowing.
The master bathroom is considered a special retreat for the owners, a place of relaxation. Over the years, the design has changed from a garden tub and shower combo to walk-in showers and soaker tubs. Some wonder if both are needed or if one is more essential than the other. We want to explore the pros and cons of each and help you know which one is the best fit for you, or if you should have both.
Liver mush. Cleveland County is famous for its liver mush and the festival that has celebrated it for the past 30 years. Due to COVID-19, however, our community had to do some quick thinking to enjoy our yearly tradition still safely. This is how the first-ever virtual liver mush festival was born, and we at Greenbrook Design are honored to be one of the sponsors. Individuals were invited to share a video of themselves preparing their favorite way to enjoy liver mush for a chance to win cash and prizes valued at over $1,000.
The bare essentials. That is how some would describe a minimalist design style, one void of color and personality. A house designed with this style will only have the necessities needed to function, but that is not the case. While it is true that the minimalist style lacks the extra fluff and sparkle of other styles, it is still a beautiful choice for those who are looking to create a space with simplicity. Let’s unpack this style to see if it suits your home.
When you think of creating a unique space or finding extra storage, does your mind go to your stairs? Probably not, but there is so much that can be done with this unique space. Let’s explore what you can do with your staircase to get that little something extra you have been looking for.
