Remodel Project -Shelby, NC

Combo of cabinets: Walker Woodworking & Dura Supreme

Objective:  Design a kitchen with open shelving in place of upper cabinets

Perimeter, Hood & Open Shelving

Open shelving brings warmth and openness, featuring 12″ deep floating shelves crafted from walnut with a smooth, natural, flat finish, offering both function and organic beauty.

The custom hood pairs seamlessly with the overall design, grounding the cooking zone as a central visual feature.

This kitchen boasts ample storage, featuring a wall of cabinets on one side.

Refrigerator Wall Feature
This custom-built refrigerator wall by Walker Woodworking combines craftsmanship with clever functionality. Built using an inset construction method, the cabinetry showcases the refined “Dixon” door profile, finished in Sherwin-Williams Pure White with a smooth satin sheen for a crisp, classic look.

Inside the coffee zone, the quartz countertop provides a durable, elegant surface, while adjustable walnut shelves tie in beautifully with the floating shelving and hood, creating a cohesive design.

Smart storage solutions include pocket doors for a clean, concealed look when open, a hidden toe kick drawer, and extra-deep 26″ drawers, maximizing space for larger kitchen essentials without compromising on style.

Base Cabinets

Cabinets: Dura Supreme

This stylish kitchen showcases a sophisticated blend of modern design and practical function. The base cabinets feature Dura Supreme’s Hudson door style, built with a sleek frameless construction and finished in the rich, moody Gale Force paint.

Countertops are done in Valiant Bolivar quartz with a clean pencil edge, offering a subtle elegance that complements the cabinetry.

Hardware from Berenson adds the perfect finishing touch—sleek and modern to match the overall aesthetic.

Smart storage features include a 50-quart dual trash and recycling pull-out, maximizing utility without sacrificing design.

A standout element is the peninsula, featuring a dramatic waterfall edge and finished on the back with a decorative wainscot panel, which creates visual interest and adds a touch of custom craftsmanship.

The peninsula also creates a nice border between the kitchen and dining area, as well as the perfect buffet table!
