New Construction – Shelby, NC

Glass and wood are two materials that complement each other well, as evident in this stunning project featuring quarter-sawn white oak and glass-front cabinet doors. Everything in this space says ‘welcome’ with the natural light and harmonizing color palette, which works seamlessly with the rest of the design.

Kitchen Perimeter

Door profile—The Shelby Door

Objective:  Design an open kitchen that integrates with the other areas in the home.

Build Method: Frameless Cabinets by Walker Woodworking

Wood Species & Finishes: Perimeter: SW Alabaster

An open kitchen design is always perfect for family gatherings, especially since it allows everyone to stay connected throughout the home. The soft contrast of white uppers and quarter-sawn white oak creates the warm environment that makes conversation flow.

Kitchen Island

Build Method: Frameless Cabinets by Walker Woodworking

Wood Species & Finishes:

  • Island: Quarter Sawn White Oak – Rubio finish
  • Counter material—Montauk quartz w/ half bullnose edge

A standout feature of this island is the set of flip-down cubbies with built-in outlets—ideal for storing iPads and personal devices. Whether it’s homework, recipe browsing, or casual screen time, this setup offers a convenient tech-friendly spot for both kids and adults. On the opposite side, the island is equipped with a silverware drawer, an integrated knife block, a microwave drawer, and ample additional storage, combining everyday function with thoughtful design.

Open Concept – Living room

Objective: Design a dining space that flows with the rest of the space and create the perfect combination for all living areas.

Entertainment Center:

Build Method: Frameless Cabinets by Walker Woodworking

Wood Species & Finishes:

  • Quarter Sawn White Oak – Finish – Rubio white
With open living spaces, it is important to create defined boundaries so each area is its own, but there still should be a sense of unity between the entire space, which is exactly what was accomplished with this project. The long live-edge dining table is a perfect fit for this family, and the entertainment space gives storage and style for the living room. Made from quarter-sawn white oak, it carries the theme from the kitchen but in its unique way. The floating shelves allow for special decor pieces to be displayed elegantly.

Bathrooms

Master Bathroom

Build Method: Frameless Cabinets by Cabico

Wood Species & Finishes:

  • Rustic Alder – Finish – Columbia

This master bathroom is a place of relaxation with a large tub and walk-in shower. The tile work and dark wood make a great combination that looks amazing. A walk-in closet is another great feature designed for homeowners that will keep everything organized for both of them. They also chose to maximize their space by having a tall built-in made where they could not just place their TV but also use it for additional storage.

Powder Bath

Build Method: Inset Cabinets by Walker Woodworking

Wood Species & Finishes:

  • Painted Maple
  • Reclaimed barn wood from the owner

Bathrooms are an important part of the home and reflect the unique style of this home. The spotlight belongs to the powder bathroom since it features a custom-built vanity with drawers made from old reclaimed barn wood from the owner’s grandfather. This makes it special not only in looks but also in memories.

Unique Features

There are plenty of custom features that make this kitchen perfect for cooking dinner, such as the Galley Workstation with dividers to store all of its amazing accessories. Under-cabinet and puck lighting ensure that things can keep moving even after the sun goes down. One highlight of this space is the seeded glass doors; they brighten up the area and create visual interest. Storage is not a problem either, with ample drawers, pull-outs, and dividers. Whether it is making delicious meals or sweet memories, this kitchen has it all.
