Remodel Project – Shelby, NC

Small but Mighty Design
Cabinets by Walker Woodworking

A small kitchen layout doesn’t have to sacrifice style or function—and this design proves it. Every square foot was thoughtfully planned to deliver maximized space and added function, creating efficiency and purpose, making the most of the home’s cozy culinary hub. This space highlights the power of custom design, where tailored solutions bring both beauty and practicality to life.

Kitchen Perimeter

Subway tile – Daltile Ice Grey K176

Objective:  Design an open kitchen with maximized storage solutions for the homeowner.

Build method: Inset cabinets by Walker Woodworking

Finish:  Uppers / Talls BM Silverlake – Satin  Perimeter & base cabinets BM Gunmetal 1602

Warm, inviting color choices set the tone for this small but mighty open kitchen, designed for both cooking and connection. Custom cabinetry was key to maximizing the layout, with smart solutions like pull-outs, roll-outs, and a lazy Susan for efficient storage. A narrow pull-out beside the sink holds towels, while tray dividers above the stove keep essentials close at hand. The pantry cabinet features roll-out drawers for easy access to every item. This thoughtfully designed space brings beauty, function, and a touch of everyday luxury to the heart of the home.

Kitchen Island

“Center Stage: A Custom Island with Purpose”

The island, painted in Benjamin Moore’s Gunmetal, anchors the kitchen with both style and utility. Thoughtfully outfitted with a double trash pull-out, a silverware divider drawer, and a built-in microwave drawer, it offers seamless function within a sleek design. The brushed satin finish Top Knobs hardware adds a touch of understated elegance, complementing the deep, rich tone of the cabinetry. Built using Walker Woodworking’s custom inset construction method, the island reflects craftsmanship and attention to detail at every angle.
