The Powder Room
Custom cabinets: Walker Woodworking
Powder Room
The term “powder room” dates back to the 18th century and originally referred to a small room where people, mostly women, would go to powder their wigs or freshen up. Over time, as wigs fell out of fashion, the term evolved to describe a small bathroom, typically without a shower or tub, meant for guests to use.
Today, we use “powder room” as a more elegant or discreet way to refer to a half-bath, usually located near common areas of the home and often designed with special attention to style and decor.
A perfect blend of elegance and simplicity, this powder bath features a custom floating vanity with reeded drawers, offering both texture and visual interest. Finished in Farrow & Ball Pale Powder, the soft, airy hue adds a refreshing sense of calm to the compact space. For practical purposes, the bottom drawer is U-shaped for toilet paper storage in this small powder room.
This thoughtfully designed room proves that small spaces can make a big impact.
