Remodel Project – Charlotte, NC
Both charming and functional, this kitchen gives off a definite coastal vibe.
Everything about this kitchen says, “Welcome, have a seat and stay awhile.”
Kitchen Perimeter
Kitchen: Cabinets by Walker Woodworking
The clean, soft white color palette was an excellent choice for this kitchen design, as it creates a bright and inviting space for the family to gather together. The focal point in this space has to be the glass corner glass front door cabinet with the extended brass pull hardware and lighting. The kitchen cabinet layout was also carried over into the small dining area and features a beverage refrigerator and a tall cabinet perfect for additional storage.

Kitchen Island
A Kitchen That Feels Like Home
One unique and unexpected design choice in this space is the absence of overhead lighting above the island. Instead, removable lamps bring a warm, lived-in feel—setting this kitchen apart from more traditional layouts. The result is a cozy, welcoming atmosphere that feels more like a living room than a workspace, and we love how it encourages people to slow down and stay awhile.
An apron-front sink and easily accessible trash pull-out support daily tasks with ease, making this space just as practical as it is inviting.
Everything about this kitchen says, “Welcome, have a seat, and stay awhile.” It’s the kind of space that draws people in and makes them want to linger.
Laundry Room & Mudroom
Mudroom –
The color choice (Farrow & Ball 31 Railings) for this mudroom is nothing short of stunning. It is a soft black with blue undertones that creates an elegant and dramatic look. Pairing it with a patterned wallpaper, which continues to be seen behind the cabinet due to the open back and glass doors, makes this a magazine-worthy space, both charming and functional.
Laundry Room:
Build Method: Frameless Cabinets
Wood Species & Finishes:
Farrow & Ball 231 Setting Plaster – Satin
Features:
- Open cabinet
- Drying rack drawer
- Recessed lighting
- Rollout
The laundry room is an essential area of the home, which means it should be a pleasant environment. The choice to use blush pink and gray countertops was an excellent one. The extended countertop length provides enough space to sort and fold laundry before delivering it to the correct areas in the home. There are also several helpful drying elements inserted into this space, such as a metal hanging rod and a drying rack drawer. Adding a sink was a smart choice, as it provides an easy way to spot-clean clothes before putting them in the wash. Even though laundry may not be your favorite chore, this place can make it a little more cheerful.
