Remodel Project – Fort Mill, SC
Kitchen, Family Room, & Drop Zone
Objective: Design spaces that were tied together with similar elements, while each still having its own style.
Nature’s colors and textures always create a warm and inviting environment, which is why so many designers are incorporating them into the home. Warm wood tones, exposed brick, and natural light blend in this project to form a space that is welcoming to the whole family.
Kitchen & Island
Warm, inviting, and calming sets the tone for this remodel.
The eye is naturally drawn to the light, warm tones of the exposed brick that also serves as the backsplash for the kitchen. The gorgeous custom island, made from white oak with a linseed finish, adds another level of beauty to this space, not to mention being functional with the additional storage space under the seating area. The contrasting soft white cabinets add more visual interest as well. One highlight of this kitchen area is the addition of the custom banquette seating, which is well-lit by the three large windows, allowing lots of sunlight to pour in. “Cozy” and “relaxed” are two words that perfectly summarize this space, making it the place to gather with family at any time of the day.

Family Room
“Reclaimed Elegance: Family Room Built-ins”
Reclaimed wood is a defining theme throughout this home, and it shines in the family room with custom-built shelving by Walker Woodworking. Crafted from reclaimed white oak and finished with linseed oil and a soft gray glaze, the shelves bring both character and warmth to the space.
Paired with additional built-ins and cabinetry, the design offers both beauty and function. The cabinetry, finished in Benjamin Moore Rustic Taupe—Satin, contrasts beautifully with the bright Sherwin-Williams Alabaster—Satin interior, creating depth and balance. Adjustable shelving adds versatility, making this space as functional as it is inviting.
The combination of earthy reclaimed materials with refined finishes results in a timeless design that feels grounded, warm, and perfectly at home for gathering and everyday living.

“A Thoughtful Welcome: Custom Bench & Drop Zone”
Designed with both beauty and function in mind, this custom-built bench and drop zone offer the perfect solution for an organized entryway. The inset construction highlights craftsmanship, while the wood top bench—crafted from reclaimed quarter-sawn white oak and finished with linseed oil and a soft gray glaze—adds warmth and character.
The cabinetry, finished in Sherwin-Williams Alabaster—Satin, creates a clean backdrop, while the 9″ shelf was thoughtfully designed to hold baskets for additional storage. By incorporating a custom drop zone, the family ensured that the items used most often when coming and going remain conveniently located yet neatly tucked away.
The result is a welcoming space that blends timeless design with everyday practicality.
The Master
“Serene Retreat: Master Suite with Custom Details”
This master suite blends elegance, warmth, and functionality. Frameless cabinetry in Sherwin-Williams Alabaster—Satin creates a serene bedroom, while integrated dog beds bring thoughtful charm to both the bedroom and sunroom. The James Martin his-and-hers vanities with Carrara marble countertops make a striking statement in the master bath, simplifying morning routines.
