Elegance, charm, and beauty are three words that describe this finished project perfectly. Magnolia Grove was an amazing renovation and a unique challenge. The goal was to update several spaces within the house while still staying true to the circa 1824 historic structure and feel of the home. The owner had already purchased several specialty items that reflected her design style. Our job was to create spaces that matched these elements to complete the look.
Kitchen + Living
Objective: Design a functional kitchen that blends the historic home with new, functional spaces.
The eye is naturally drawn to the custom kitchen island made from quarter-sawn white oak, which required us to assemble on-site because it would not fit through the door once completed. The six timber wolf posts are the perfect accent to the piece, and the beautiful antique chandelier, imported from Italy, casts just the right amount of light. The highlight of the kitchen, however, is the charming custom range from the La Cournue Chateau series and cast stone hood. Together, these complement each other to perfectly suit the style and feel of the kitchen while adding a sense of authenticity to the space. This historic home had an addition made in the back, which became the kitchen and sunroom. We had to custom-build cabinets that allowed some original brick to come through like a backsplash. The result was a beautiful, warm brick perfectly complimented by custom cabinets. The brass hardware featured on the cabinets is another element that rings true to the home’s historic roots.
Master bedroom + bath
Objective: Add custom cabinets that feel like part of the original space and bathroom cabinets that add function while staying true to the design.
Custom closets are more than just about getting the most out of your space; they are also about the look. The goal was to create closets that were functional but also matched the current design of the room. Building them out and around the window makes it look like they were always there.
The master bathroom is a beautifully finished space that not only has a wonderful soaker tub but also an amazing walk-in shower that is completely tiled. Brass hardware was continued in both spaces as well, and the elegant lighting sconces are France-imported Rock crystals from the early 1800s that were wired for modern-day use.
